Welcome back! I love the sunshine and the swimming pool and watching my garden grow during the summer. I hope that all of you have some special moments this summer that will bring lasting memories. Now that some of us are back to working full-time, we use those summertime memories to keep us going throughout the year.
Gail Fray, Kathy Flynn, and I were all attendees at the state conference in Colorado Springs in early June. It’s exciting to see all the work that our state chapters are doing and hearing about the national and international initiatives. Next year’s convention will be Fort Collins and I encourage all of you to attend a workshop or spend a full day with us. Making connections with your fellow DKG members throughout the state is really fun. What wonderful women we are!
2016-2017 Mu Chapter DKG Dues Our dues support many worthwhile DKG projects, at the local, state and international level.
Dues for local, state and international: $85 for Active membership
$53 for Reserve membership (granted to a member who is unable to participate fully in the activities of the chapter because of physical disability and/or geographic location.)
You can mail your 2016-2017 DKG dues to:
Martha Ramos 1350 Terrace Drive, Longmont, Colorado 80504 or bring a check for dues to the September or October meeting.
Looking forward to continuing our great work and enjoying getting to create positive impacts on our community.
2016-2018 Officers
I am excited to be able to see all of you soon. I want to especially welcome our newest members: Kathy Burtscher, Sandra Vazquez, Amy Hamblin and Amy Schiers.
We have some great programs coming up, so please mark the following dates on your calendar. Saturday meetings will start with fellowship and light refreshments/breakfast at 8:30 and the program will begin at 9:00. We will adjourn by 10:30 so most of Saturday is still available.
I know that certain committees need to be assigned to each of these meetings and that all our members need to be assigned to committees. If anyone has a preference for a committee or wants to be a chair, let me know. We are in need of a Scholarship Chair since I've moved to President--it's a great job and I'll help get you started this year. Please be patient as I get to this, but please do plan on attending the meetings!!
Saturday, September 10: St. Vrain Grassroots will present information on the SVVSD bond issue that will be on the ballot in November.
Saturday, October 8: Dr. Sue Petit, Omega (Colorado) State President of Delta Kappa Gamma will visit our Chapter and present information on the state organization and her hopes and dreams for DKG.
Saturday, November 12: On the Town with DKG! We will be attending the NHS presentation of the musical, Into the Woods, at 7:00 PM. We can decide if dinner will be a part of this evening.
Saturday, December 10: Holiday Brunch--everyone brings something to share to celebrate the holiday season.
Saturday, January 14: Join with Gail Ward as she leads us through Tai Cheng!
Saturday, February 11: Joint meeting with AAUW and we will gather at 9:00 AM. Their program will be The Conversation Project.
Saturday, March 11: STEM Programming in the SVVSD. Teachers from Westview Middle School will share some of the exciting and innovative projects they do with their classes.
Saturday, April 8: TBD and Cookies for Teachers as much testing occurs in April now.
Thursday, May 12: End of year Celebrations and Scholarship Awards (meeting from 4:00-5:30)
