MU CHAPTER NEWSLETTER AUGUST 2018 Hello Everyone! I'm sorry this is so late; where the heck did August go? I'm excited about the programs we have coming up this year, and I hope you will be able to attend many of the meetings.
Our first meeting is just one week away--Thursday, September 6 at 4:15 PM at Bethlehem Lutheran Church, 1000 15th Ave. At this meeting, we are hoping that our Adopt-a-Classroom teacher, Ana Felix who is a first year Kindergarten teacher at Timberline, will be able to join us.
We will start the year with a TEACHER SHOWER for her. Some things Ana requested are: electric pencil sharpener, clip boards, tubs with lids for storage, things to help her organize the papers on her desk with dividers, and things to make a calm down spot in her classroom--such as stuffed seats, pillows, small carpet. I know I always loved bulletin board items, stickers, markers, prizes for kids and more books. She has a bilingual classroom which adds an extra challenge.
Also during our September meeting, we are beginning our year-long 80th ANNIVERSARY CELEBRATION which will culminate with a special catered breakfast in March. Kathy Flynn will get us started with some information about our humble beginning in 1939 and will also give us a glimpse of the future with her report on the DKG International Convention this summer in Austin, Texas (The birthplace of DKG). I should have more information by our September 6 meeting to share about how each committee can contribute to this celebration. So be watching👁
DUES. Not anyone's favorite subject but a necessity. The dues you pay allow us to exist as an organization. I turned in the yearly Treasurer's Report (Form 15) back in June. It's kind of disheartening to see the numbers. We have $6314.91 in assets, but last June (2017) we had $8148.63. So even with careful budgeting, our value is steadily decreasing. Awarding $1200 in scholarships in the future could get difficult. DUES HAVE NOT CHANGED FROM LAST YEAR! Please mail your check or bring it to our meeting on September 6. Martha has agreed to help with dues collection. Martha Ramos, 1350 Terrace Drive, 80504Active: $85.00Reserve: $53.00 If you send a self-addressed envelope, Martha will send you your 2018 DKG Membership Card.
WE ARE STILL IN NEED OF A TREASURER!!
