CONGRATULATIONS !! Mu Chapter is proud to congratulate Vivian !
Vivian Bray receives the Citation of Merit Award from Omega State Organization
At the state convention held in Denver, April 29-May1, Vivian Bray, past president of Mu Chapter (1996-98), received the Citation of Merit Award. The submission for the award effort was spear-headed by Gail Fray, Mu Chapter music chair. Vivian's service to the state includes serving 15 years on the state music committee, singing solos for ceremonies and general sessions, writing poetry, assisting in remembrance ceremonies, and heading up the 'mug rug' project for Omega State 2011 Southwest Regional Conference. Vivian also serves our chapter on the music committee and has contributed her vocal styling for many years.
State Criteria for the award: In every organization there are those occasional members who give selflessly of service and leadership in their special fields without receiving the recognition which their dedication merits. These individuals will become apparent from time to time only through their long and distinctive service. Unlike the Omega State award, this certificate need not be given every year and an Omega State Award recipient is not eligible. To honor these women, a certificate of recognition may be given when a deserving member qualifies. The selection of the recipient shall be the prerogative of the elected state officers: the president, the first vice-president, the second vice-president, the immediate past state president, the corresponding secretary, the recording secretary; in addition to the non-voting ex-officio members: the parliamentarian, the executive secretary, the treasurer, and the editor of Omega Peaks. Regional directors and members of the international administrative board are assigned as international guests to state conventions. "I was honored and privileged to be assigned to state conventions in Alabama, Kansas, Nebraska, Nevada, Costa Rica, New Mexico, and Massachusetts in 2009 and 2010. It was also my greatest joy to attend the installation of our newest state organization in 2009 in Panama. Twenty wonderful professional women make up the new state organization. The state president and the president of Alpha chapter, Panama, were able to attend their first international convention in 2010. Warmly, we welcome Panama as our twenty-first state organization in the SW region and our 17th international country."
(Kansas Sunflower News Excerpt) In her keynote speech at the Kansas Recognition Luncheon, SW Regional Director, Kathy Flynn, challenged the assembly to “Live the dream—Activate Your Vision!” She shared her gift of voice and songwriting by interspersing her songs "Hand in Hand," Leading With Wisdom and Passion," and “Live the Dream” throughout her speech. She was the proverbial teacher with questions: Why are we here? Why are we members? What is your dream? What is your vision? Kathy said, “Our calling is to make a difference...in the world...with women... with children...in education…We’re building a legacy--a dream that will last...Join in, be a part, volunteer, and find places where you can help out !" (Kansas Sunflower, 2009)
"Serving on the administrative board and as southwest regional director was an enlightening and rewarding experience. I have truly enjoyed the two years working with the board. Thank you to all who made my election possible, my supporters and mentors, and to the 2008-2010 international board." Kathy
